If you're staying more than 3 consecutive days, it may be more economical to purchase this MetroCard.
All subway station vending machines permit you to purchase your MetroCard with cash, your credit card
or ATM card. However, the vending machines limit you to two MetroCard purchases per day with the same
credit card. So, if you're a family of four bring more than one credit card.
CAUTION: MetroCard vending machines offer a $2.25 Single Ride MetroCard. Be aware that this Single
Ride MetroCard does not allow the free transfer from subway to bus, bus to subway, or bus to bus.
You can pay the JFK AirTrain fare with a Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard but not an Unlimited Ride MetroCard.
The JFK AirTrain fare is $5 and is in addition to the subway fare. The JFK-AirTrain 30-Day Unlimited
Ride MetroCard ($40) is only good for unlimited JFK-AirTrain trips. It can not be used for free
transfers to subways and buses.
If you are 65 years of age or older or have a disability that qualifies, you can travel for half fare
$1.10 on buses by presenting your Medicare card (Medicaid card not accepted).
